A practical guide for small campaign teams

QR code tracking for flyers and packaging

Give each placement its own link. Download its QR code, then see which links get opened.

Start free. Sign in to save your link and download its QR code.

From destination to a printable QR

  1. 1. Save a readable link

Paste your public destination into the creator, sign in and choose a suggested name. Pro lets you write a distinct name for each placement, including links to the same page.

  2. 2. Download and test

Choose Download QR after creation or in your dashboard. Place the PNG in your design. Keep its white border and test a printed sample at the final size before ordering a batch.

  3. 3. Compare link activity

Check each link’s total clicks in your dashboard. Pro’s Analytics view adds a daily chart and breakdowns for the last 30 days. Record your test clicks before distributing the material.

What the counts actually tell you

DescriptiveURL counts requests to the saved link. A camera seeing the QR without opening it is not counted. Repeat opens, your own tests and automated requests can be included. These are not unique people, verified scans, sales or return on investment.

Use the counts as a starting point. Compare similar distribution sizes and periods, then check actual enquiries or orders in your own sales records.

Before you print

Can I change where the QR sends people later?

Destination editing is not currently available. Confirm the destination before printing and keep the saved link. Deleting it breaks the printed QR. If changing the destination after printing is essential, choose a service that supports it.

Do I need Pro for a QR code?

No. Free includes 10 link creations per month, QR downloads and basic click totals. Pro adds custom link names, up to 1,000 creations per month and detailed analytics. Brand names are paths on descriptiveurl.com, not your own domain. See current prices and plan details.

How much space should I leave around the QR?

Keep the white border included in the download. QR codes require at least four modules of clear space on every side. Do not crop the border or cover it with artwork. Scan a final-size printed sample on more than one phone. DENSO WAVE’s sizing guidance explains the margin and print-size relationship.
